Mandate and Activities of the SACCO

Article 4 of the Registered REES SACCO By-Laws stipulates that objectives and core mandates of the SACCO. The draft Strategic Plan of the SACCO has identified the following key result areas as forming critical components of programming themes, hence main activity areas:

Marketing & promotion of products and services
  • Develop a marketing plan
  • Improve on the marketing strategy
  • Advertising/ - Use of radio (media), newsletters, brochures
  • Market survey/intelligence
  • Promotion – open days, T-shirts, calendars, exhibitions
  • Recruit marketers
Policies and procedures
  • Dividend (Focus on dividend payment -have a plan in place for dividends, Capitalize % for growth), credit, and investment policy
  • Review of service charter, by laws
  • Develop disaster management/HIV-AIDS policy
Product Innovation and Development
  • Introduce and improve on the products provided
  • Come up with products that meet the market
  • Product segmentation to suit various clientele
Membership mobilization
  • Have a recruitment plan in place
  • Provide a budget for member recruitment, education and trainings
  • Provide commission for recruitment (using sales agents)
Education and training
  • Training of members, board and staf
  • Provide for brochures and newsletters
  • Training of staff on ICT
  • Internalizing of the strategic plan, manuals and policies
Technological Advancement
  • Acquire a SACCO Management Software that tracks and reports on key result areas in real-time
  • Digital transformation initiatives
  • Innovation and research growth
Human Resource Development and Institutional Strengthening
  • Capacity building and training programs
  • Strategic leadership and management enhancement
